WHAT’S NEW IN XPRESS PRO HD ■
Digital Cut Tool Changes
The Digital Cut tool has also changed somewhat. Note that there is a choice of device:
either DNA or IEEE 1394 (see Figure A.3). When you choose DNA, it outputs through
the Mojo. When you select IEEE 1394, you output directly through FireWire and have
a choice of the outputs listed below.
In Xpress Pro HD, real-time bitstream encoding of DV-25 media is enabled,
allowing you to output without doing any rendering of real-time effects. This feature is
dependent on your computer’s RAM and CPU speed, but any Avid-recommended sys-
tem should work.
The caveat here is that there could be issues if your system does not meet Avid
standards. In cases such as these, it may not have the power to encode in real time.
When doing a digital cut, you have the choice of four output modes (see
Figure A.4).
DV25 The same as earlier DV-25 output in Xpress Pro
DV50 The same as earlier DV-50 output in Xpress Pro
RT DV25 Real-time bitstream encoding (no rendering of real-time effects is necessary)
RT DV50 Real-time bitstream encoding (no rendering of real-time effects is necessary)
New Resolutions
Xpress Pro HD accepts two new resolution types:
• DVC Pro HD
• DNxHD
