4. Now find the file using this path:

NTSC: Xpress Pro|Free DV\Supporting Files\Test Patterns\SMPTE_Bars.pct

PAL: Xpress Pro|Free DV\Supporting Files\Test Patterns\PAL\ColorBars.pct

Select OK; the bars will import in the bin.

Now we can edit the sequence. First, we’ll do the tone, as follows:

1. Make sure that your empty Bars and Tone sequence is already loaded on the

record side.

2. Open up the Tone clip and press Mark Clip underneath the Source monitor.

3. Press Splice.

The tone has been edited into your sequence.

And finally, edit in the bars, as follows:

1. First, move the blue position indicator to the first frame of the sequence.

2. Mark an in point underneath the Record monitor.

3. Next, load the SMPTE Bars in the source menu and select Mark Clip as you did

previously with the audio (see Figure 4.38).

4. Press the Splice button.

The bars will appear on top of the tone in the video track.

Now, just as an example, toggle the Source record Timeline button (on Xpress

Pro only) and take a look at the source media. To return to the edited sequence, press

the toggle switch again.

Analog Scrub

Let’s take a look at the analog scrub capabilities of the Xpress Pro/Free DV systems

(see Figure 4.39 and Table 4.1). Try some of these scrubbing options:
