You can also customize your bins in Free DV or Xpress Pro by adding new

headings. For example, you could add a heading called Print to the bin, which could be

used to determine which clips should be captured. On each clip, we will type a Y or N

for Yes or No. To create this custom heading, do the following:

1. Click the Brief tab above your bin.

2. Click in the empty space beyond all the other columns. A cursor should appear.

3. Type the word Print.

4. Click Return.

5. Your custom heading will appear. From here, you can enter data underneath this

heading for each clip.

Cool, huh? You can create custom headings for just about any criteria that you

can think of. They can be sorted, sifted, amended, and saved. Also, note that custom

headings can be viewed only in the Text view of Free DV, but they can be displayed in

Brief or Text view on Xpress Pro.

There are also other preset bin headings that can be displayed in both Xpress

Pro and Free DV. To access these, use the Text view and then choose Bins

> Headings.

A menu will allow you to select bin headings (columns), including custom headings

that you have already created.

Frame View

The Frame view (shown in Figure 3.49) allows you to view a single thumbnail frame of

each clip inside the bin. The idea is to have a picture that will help you identify the

clip. The default display shows the first frame of the clip.

Note: Once you have entered your Y and N,Alt/Option-clicking in that custom column will reveal a choice

of the text you have entered on other rows.
